Blue Hour

The “Blue Hour” is a magical time, nestled between twilight and the golden hour, giving everything a blue or purple hue. This painting captures the serene beauty of Starboard Cove, located right across from Machiasport, Maine.

The photograph that inspired this piece was taken by my friend Rick, right in his front yard! The island on the right is Ingall’s Island (which used to be called Starboard Island), and on the left is Stone Island. The land in the middle, hidden by the fog, is home to Libby Lighthouse. When I asked if I could paint this rare and stunning scene of the purple morning sky, he graciously agreed. Thank you, Rick!
