In This Together
Did you know that lobsters, though most are a greenish-brown, can actually display a wide range of colors? A special crustacean protein interacts with its dietary pigments to change the color of their exoskeleton. Lobsters are all the same on the inside—their colors simply vary on the outside, just like us! The only color we haven’t witnessed in nature is purple, but I can only hope! Truthfully, I have been working on this painting on and off for years. In This Together is one of those pieces I'd return to in phases—setting it down, coming back, slowly discovering what it wanted to be. I started with a blue lobster, then came a green one. I added the boards in the background, some water, and then a red one. That's when it hit me: why not all the colors of the rainbow? I absolutely love how it turned out!
