That Happened Fast
The month of August has gone by too quickly! So much has happened in just a few short weeks. I will start by saying I had something I really needed—rest. It has been very busy with multiple jobs, and I very much looked forward to a break. And I had a great time with my family! My brother and soon-to-be sister-in-law came home from Indiana, and we all spent our days going on little adventures, relaxing at camp, and just enjoying time together. It was wonderful!
I also took a trip with my wonderful friend Jessie, visiting galleries and gift shops along the coast to see what it takes to get my artwork displayed and sold in these beautiful places. She was also my photographer for the day—didn’t she do great?!
Since I had never done any of this before, it was a great learning experience. I met many kind and encouraging people who were generous in sharing the process with me. I learned that many galleries use a jury to help decide if an artist is a good fit for their space or local art co-op. I have narrowed it down to a couple of places and will start the application, interview, and jury process this winter for next year! Once I find my place, you will be the first to know!
Later in August, after all the resting and travel, I was ready to get back into my shed—but there was a problem. Can you guess what I found? I will give you clues…it was oval-shaped, tucked under the roofline, and was buzzing…Yep, it was a HUGE wasp’s nest! Sadly, I had to take care of it (since it was blocking me from my art space). Once it was gone, I was finally able to get back inside and start creating again! More on that soon!!
I have had a few people ask me about a donation section on my website and when I will be hosting an open house for the art shed. And I am sorry! I know I mentioned that I’d be opening my art shed and holding office hours, but after dealing with wasps and summer slipping away quickly, it looks like that won’t be happening this year. Plus, living on a busy Main Road makes it tricky with parking and traffic—it just isn’t ideal. So, that dream will have to wait until I am in a better location! BUT…I did figure out how to add a donation section! I included it under my new tab called Testimonials! In there, you can see reviews that buyers have graciously left me, plus a donation section at the bottom! Thanks for the idea!
